About Rufo Bird
Rufo Bird is the principal tax preparer and lead accountant at Riverview Tax and Accounting. He is a licensed Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and Certified Financial Manager (CFM) with over 25 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, tax preparation and financial services. Rufo holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and also holds a Master’s degree in Finance from Fairfield University. Rufo started his career in accounting working at Fortune 100 companies, including IBM and most recently, American Express Company, leading several of their internal accounting and reporting functions, and for many years worked closely with the Tax functions on many initiatives to help drive companywide tax compliance and tax efficiencies. He also spent time working overseas in the United Kingdom and several years as a part time Adjunct professor at local universities, teaching all levels of accounting and finance.
Ultimately, after a successful corporate career, Rufo wanted to dedicate his expertise and time to helping individuals and small businesses with their financial needs and decided to open his own practice to help individual taxpayers and small businesses benefit from the same expertise that large companies and high net worth individuals enjoy.
